High School Graduation Bonus Available for Acorn Fund Graduates!
Students who graduated from high school in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020 and signed up for our Acorn Fund program, may apply for a one-time Graduation Bonus Award and receive an additional contribution to their Acorn Fund account. Once approved, those who graduated from the classes of 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017 will receive $500, and 2016 graduates will receive $1000.
The 2016 graduates, who enrolled as seniors during our very first year of offering college savings accounts to Salem students, are receiving a larger award because they did not have the same opportunity to get further contributions into their Acorn Fund accounts as students in earlier grades receive now.
Special Deadline: There is no deadline to apply, however, Acorn Fund graduates who want to use their Graduation Bonus Award to pay for college expenses in the 2022 Winter/Spring Semester must apply for the Graduation Bonus Award by August 31, 2021.
To be eligible for the Graduation Bonus Award, applicants are required to:
Be a Salem High School graduate, or have been living in Salem City at the time of graduation.

Provide access to their final high school transcript.
Complete or have already completed five hours of community service during the applicant's senior year of high school or up to the day of submitting the Graduation Bonus application, and tell us about this service in the application.
Although not required, it would be helpful to have this information available:
ACT / SAT scores
To obtain a copy of your high school transcript, contact you high school guidance office and allow serveral weeks to receive your transcript. Salem High School graduates will NOT be required to obtain their transcript because after giving consent in the application, the Foundation will obtain their transcript directly from Salem High School.
Community service is volunteer work that is done without pay to help people within your local community. It can be performed in a local church, school, business, non-profit organization or neighborhood. This work can be done to help children, senior citizens, animals, the environment, the hungry and/or homeless, just to name a few. In the application, you will be asked to describe the community service you completed during the most recent academic year.
For those who have not yet performed five hours of community service, there is still time to complete this requirement before applying.

Applicants will notice a brand new look when they click on the application link, and all Acorn Fund graduates will have an opportunity to create their own account, update their contact information and apply for the Graduation Bonus Award just by clicking the link.
