Najwa Tatum was one of our first Forman Scholars and now she’s the second Forman Scholar to serve on our Board of Trustees.
Najwa attended Salem High School and graduated from Stockton University in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She was appointed to our board on Feb. 7, 2017.
“It’s very important to us that, in addition to providing encouragement and financial assistance for Salem students to further their education, we also offer students opportunities to learn and grow through our organization,” said Foundation President Kathryn Markovchick. “Of course, we expect to learn a lot from Najwa as well. Her recent education experience and connections to youth in Salem will be extremely valuable for our board.”
In March 2016, Evelyn Campbell became our first Forman Scholar to join the board. She is now pursuing a PhD program in microbiology at the University of Chicago.
Najwa grew up in Wildwood, NJ, and moved to Salem City in middle school. She excelled in both academics and sports, and that experience has made her consider pursuing a career in physical therapy. For now, she's providing valuable support to our board.
