We're excited to formally introduce Joyce Elwell, the official coordinator of the Acorn Fund!
Born and raised across the river in Wilmington, Delaware, Joyce has deep roots in Salem City. Her father-in-law, Dr. Kenneth C. Elwell, was a longtime Salem resident and 1947 graduate of Salem City High School. Her husband is a 1972 graduate of Salem City High School, and they have lived in Salem together since their wedding day, raising two children who attended Salem City public schools and graduated from Salem City High School as well.
Joyce is also a registered nurse, and has worked locally as an intensive care nurse and clinical manager of a dialysis center. She volunteers on the Faith Works Council and the Live Health Salem County Coalition as well.
As the official coordinator of the Acorn Fund, Joyce's goal is to get Salem's youth signed up for college savings plans. Since joining our effort in late spring, she's already helped enroll more than 400 Salem children!
As part of our partnership with United Way of Salem County, Joyce is available to assist in person at the John B. Campbell Center on Walnut Street in Salem City. You can also call her personally at 844-4FORMAN (844-436-7626) to schedule an appointment.
Please don't be shy about reaching out - she's happy to help!
