Recognizing Trying Times, Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation Youth Board Donates School Supplies to Local Salem Schools

With the 2020-2021 school year like no other, the Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation Youth Board organized a school supply donation drive to benefit the students of Salem City and support the local community amid these trying times. Members of the Youth Board collected 500 individual prepackaged supplies and delivered them to the elementary and middle schools.

It feels wonderful to be able to donate to the schools; I’m glad I’m a part of the youth board,” said Youth Board member Zoe Eldridge. “The donations were very generous, and I’m happy they were well received.”

Youth Board members donated a variety of supplies – including pencils, scissors, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks and pencil sharpeners – to ensure Salem’s students have a successful and productive school year given these unprecedented and chaotic times. Even hand sanitizer and face masks were included so students can remain safe and protect themselves, their classmates and their teachers from COVID-19.

"I'm glad we were able to donate supplies to the school and I hope it makes a difference," said Youth Board member Jerome Crews.

The members of the Youth Board look forward to continuing their work with the Foundation's staff to provide positive and meaningful opportunities for Salem's youth. For information on how to join the Youth Board, please contact Kim Smith at kim@formanscholars.org
