Grants
Our Foundation has provided numerous grants to those organizations and institutions that serve to benefit Salem's youth and further their education. Since our inception, we've made grants totaling over $2 million to enhance educational opportunities for Salem students from pre-K to those ready for college.
Our grant recipients include:
Full scholarships for high school students to attend the two-week residential STEAM Academy on the Rowan University campus this summer. (Learn more about the STEAM Academy here.)
Funding for students to attend Rowan's Introduction for Students to Engineering (RISE) programs, non-residential summer workshops developed to introduce and further cultivate students’ enthusiasm for engineering by mirroring the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering’s applied approach to engineering education.
A grant to One Village Alliance for its after-school and full-day Around the World in a Summer program. Up to 25 young people ages 6-13 in Salem will take a journey around the world, learning about different cultures through literature, math & money, arts & crafts, music & movement, and culinary arts.
A grant to Salem Community College to fund the CAP/Dual Credit program, a program designed to provide Salem High School students the opportunity to convert eligible high school courses into college credits at the end of each academic school year, giving high school students the opportunity to earn college credits at a substantial savings.
A grant to Two13 North Corporation, which runs Chart the Course: Reading Literacy Lab at Salem Middle School, an academic-enrichment initiative designed for students in grades 3-8 who are performing below grade level. The program is designed to help young people discover their purpose, blending foundational literacy instruction with mentorship and culturally responsive engagement. Students receive small-group instruction, individualized learning plans and hands-on learning experiences in reading.
A grant to P3 Alliance’s Self-Made Youth Girl’s Group, a 10-lesson empowerment course designed to educate, uplift and equip young girls with vital life tools. Over the course of 10 structured lessons, girls explored essential themes such as etiquette, mental health, career preparation, conflict resolution and more. Through open discussion, reflection, engaging activities and guest mentorship, the girls grew in confidence, character and sisterhood.
A grant to Gateway Community Action Partnership to sponsor Salem City high school students to attend a multi-city college tour.
Previous grants have been given to the United Way, Salem City School District, Rowan University, NYCE’S Outreach, and Young Entrepreneurs of Salem.
