What We Do

The Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation advances educational opportunities for youth in the greater Salem City, NJ, community. We provide financial assistance and inspirational support that removes barriers and creates pathways for students to advance their education, achieve career success and become global leaders. We’re here to help Salem youth change the world.

Each year, our annual reports spotlight the work the Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation does to grow and enhance our programs, including our Forman Scholars, Acorn Fund, Youth Board, and other initiatives designed to benefit youth across Salem. These yearly snapshots also showcase some of the accomplishments of our Scholars and students and how we’re helping them along in their educational journeys.

We invite you to review each of our annual reports to see the progress we've made and how the foundation has continued to grow year over year.

Dear High School Graduate
A note of financial advice from college seniors to their freshman selves

Dr. Forman S. Acton saw that many of Salem’s brightest students were not considering a college education because they simply didn’t have the same resources that helped him become successful. In 2009, he started trying to change that.

The foundation awards grants, by invitation only, for professional development, early childhood, pre-K-12 after-school and summer programs and college preparation. Learn more about the programs these grants support.
