Get To Know Forman Scholar Gabriella Bartlett!
Gabriella Bartlett will be attending the University of South Carolina this coming fall, where she’ll be majoring in pharmaceutical science with a minor in Spanish. Learn more about Gabriella and the plans she has for her college career.
What made you want to study both pharmaceutical science and Spanish?
I selected my major and minor with the goal of becoming a pharmacist who can help a wide range of people. Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, and I want to be able to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients to provide them with the best possible care. Being bilingual is an incredibly valuable skill in healthcare, and it will help me to build stronger relationships with patients and advocate effectively for their needs.
How were you involved in high school?
I participated in track and field during both the winter and spring seasons, as well as cross country. I was a member of the Academic League, Student Council, National Honor Society, Ambassadors, Junior Rotarian and the Forman Acton Youth Board. I frequently volunteered in my town and through my school, doing everything from road cleanups to working at school events. Additionally, I worked throughout most of high school at Dunkin’ and then Hudock’s Frozen Custard Stand.
How are you planning to get involved in college?
I plan to join an intramural running team to stay active while meeting people with similar interests. I would also love to join a student-body organization, as well as get involved in a pharmacy-related organization or one focused on activism or community service. I am really looking forward to attending sporting events, especially women's basketball and football games, and immersing myself in the college experience both socially and academically.
How do you plan on making a difference in the world?
I plan to make a difference by helping as many people as I can through my work as a pharmacist. My goal is to not only serve my local community but also to travel the world and use my skills to help people globally. I believe everyone deserves access to care, and I want to help break down barriers to healthcare.
