The Forman Acton Foundation is thrilled to announce the official launch of its new brand identity and completely redesigned www.FormanScholars.org website. This formal rebrand is part of a larger goal to expand the reach of the Forman Acton Foundation and make an even greater impact on children across the Salem community.

Since the inception of the Forman Acton Foundation in 2014, the organization has grown both in size and in impact. What initially began as an anonymous $10,000 donation to a single Salem High School graduate each year from the Foundation’s namesake, Forman S. Acton, has evolved into multiple programs, providing scholarships, college saving accounts and more to hundreds of students all across Salem.

Today, the Forman Acton Foundation’s visual identity has been updated to better reflect its long-standing mission to inspire, educate and empower Salem’s youth.

“We believe our Foundation is poised to have an even bigger impact on the post-secondary educational aspirations of Salem’s youth in the years ahead, and we feel this identity change is an important one to show how we’ve enhanced our programs and the way we operate since we first got started more than six years ago,” said Larry Van Meter, Forman Acton Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our new look and new website will immediately make it easier for people across Salem and beyond to identify us and access all of the many educational programs and opportunities we offer young people in our community.”

While the Foundation’s look has been updated, its priorities and programs will remain the same. As part of a recently completed Strategic Plan, the Foundation’s focus will continue to include further enhancing the Forman Scholars program and greatly expanding its outreach and support of other Salem students who are utilizing their Acorn Fund accounts (“Acorn Scholars”) to help fund their post-secondary educational opportunities.

About the Forman Acton Foundation

The Forman Acton Foundation’s mission is to inspire, educate and empower Salem’s youth. Founded in October 2014, it is named after Forman S. Acton, a Salem resident, pioneering computer scientist, engineer and university professor who sought to provide children from his hometown with the same access to education that made him successful. Through his endowment, the Foundation provides educational opportunities through financial assistance and inspirational support that removes barriers and creates pathways for students to advance their education, achieve career success and become global leaders. About the Acorn Fund

The Acorn Fund is an initiative to create and invest in college savings accounts for Salem City’s youth. All children from birth through 12th grade who live in or attend public school in Salem City are eligible to receive money for an Acorn Fund college savings account. Opening deposits, also referred to as early scholarships, are from $50 to $1,000. Up until each student graduates from high school, the Forman Foundation plans to make additional contributions for qualified account holders. Acorn Fund account holders have until the age of 30 to begin using their college savings account funds.

About Forman Scholars

Students eligible to apply to be Forman Scholars include those in their junior year at Salem High School as well as juniors living in Salem City and attending a school in the Salem County Vocational Technical School District or attending one of the public Salem County high schools that are open to enrollment to Salem City students. In addition to residence requirements, applicants must also meet certain academic and financial need requirements to be eligible for a scholarship. Upon meeting all requirements and being selected as a Forman Scholar, students will meet periodically with the Scholarship Director during their senior year to receive coaching and college preparatory services from the Foundation.
