Get To Know Forman Scholar Anthony Parker, Jr.!

Anthony Parker, Jr. is soon on his way to Glassboro, New Jersey, where he’ll study computer informatics at Rowan University. Learn more about Anthony and the plans he has for his college career.

What made you choose your major?

I chose to major in computer informatics because I have a strong interest in coding and technology, and I enjoy creating things that help solve real-world problems. Working with technology challenges me in a way that keeps me motivated and curious to learn more. My goal is to be a software engineer when I get older, where I can create programs and contribute to advancements in the tech industry.

How were you involved in high school?

During high school, I participated in several extracurricular activities, including running track, playing basketball and competing in 7-on-7 football. I was also a member of the school choir, which allowed me to express myself creatively and connect with others. Outside of school, I worked part-time at KFC and McDonald’s, where I gained valuable experience in responsibility and time management.

What are you hoping to gain from the college experience?

From college, I hope to gain lifelong friendships that will support and inspire me throughout my life. I also want to gain more confidence in myself, both academically and personally. Overall, I am excited to explore new ideas and meet new people.

How do you plan on making a difference in the world?

I plan on making a difference in the world by always putting a smile on my face everywhere I go. I plan to spread positivity and use kindness to uplift the people around me. I believe small actions can have a big impact. My goal is to bring joy and confidence to others in every environment I’m part of.

What does being a Forman Scholar mean to you?

Being a Forman Scholar reminds me that I’m capable of achieving great things, even when I face doubt or challenges. The Foundation has supported my growth by encouraging me to pursue my passion for technology at Rowan University, and they have always believed in my potential. To be a Forman Scholar means having a constant reminder that I’m not alone in my journey and that I have the tools and support to succeed.
